The Samsung Galaxy S7 is not expected to receive a major overhaul. Instead, the smartphone is expected to be very similar to the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy Note 5.

Samsung seems to be taking a page from Apple's playbook by just making minor changes to its flagship phone, BGR reports.

Just like Apple does with the iPhone "S" generations that come out before the iPhones are redesigned every two years, it looks like Samsung will make small upgrades to the Samsung Galaxy S7.

Samsung is not copying Apple's minor update strategy because it has worked for them. Instead, the Korea Times reports that Samsung is building the Samsung Galaxy S7 to be very similar to the Galaxy S6 so that the company can save some money.

It does not look like Samsung will hold an Unpacked event for the Galaxy S7 because it will have little changes from the Galaxy S6 and maybe it does not deserve a big event to be introduced, a source familiar with Samsung told the Korea Times.

Samsung will keep the design of the phone pretty much the same and focus on making the phone more user friendly. While the look and feel of the Galaxy S7 will not change much, the internal components are expected to get a nice upgrade.

The Galaxy S7 is expected to have improved picture quality, better performance and some other new features, another source told the Times.

The Galaxy S7 will have a faster processor than the Galaxy S6, include new DRAM chips with more storage and use an OLED display.

It is now expected that the Galaxy S7 will be introduced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in late February. Earlier reports had the phone coming out as early as January, but that could take sales away from the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy Note 5.
