You don't need an expensive phone to avail of the exciting services of WhatsApp, and if you're wondering what cheap devices best fit the app, you'd be surprised to know that there are several of them.

Take for example the Nokia Asha 203. According to NeuroGadget, t he device was release back in 2012, and although it doesn't have the sleek and advance design as the other smartphones, the Nokia Asha 203 is definitely capable of running WhatsApp. Compared to other smartphones, the Nokia Asha 203 only has a two-megapixel camera and a 240 x 320 screen resolution. What's good about the Nokia Asha 203, however, is its loud speakers as well as its long battery life.

Blorge recommends the Motorola Moto G as a reasonably priced device that can actually house the WhatsApp application. It has a 4.5-inch screen display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. Currently, the Motorola Moto G runs on Android v5.1.1 Lollipop OS and has 1GB of RAM. The Moto G is more powerful than the Nokia Asha, so you can expect the device to handle the app better than the Asha line. The internal memory of the Moto G is expandable, making it an efficient device for the said app.

Running any type of app on your device requires longer battery life, so you might want to consider buying a phone that last longer than usual. Given how the WhatsApp application allows you to call and text for free, the possibility of using your device for a longer period of time is very likely. However, if you're in for a much more conventional smartphone with leveled up features but a rather reasonable price, the Sony Xperia E1 might be the perfect device for you. With a four-inch screen with a 480 x 800 resolution, the WhatsApp application will fit perfectly on the device.

The Sony Xperia E1 has a dual core 1.2 GHz Cortex A7 processor with a 512MB of RAM. It also has a 3.15-megapixel camera, something that is more superior to the Nokia Asha 203. Unfortunately, the E1 currently runs on an older Android OS version but will soon have the Android 4.4.2 Kitkat.

WhatsApp is compatible to almost any type of device now, and it's up for you to choose which one best fits you.

What are your thoughts about cheap devices that run the WhatsApp application? Are there any major differences on service than using an expensive smartphone?
