Former U.S. President Bill Clinton and former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will soon be first time grandparents. UPI reported Thursday evening that their only daughter, Chelsea Clinton, is pregnant with her first child with husband Marc Mezvinsky. Chelsea herself announced the news publicly at a women's event she attended with her mother.

The announcement was made during a live forum in New York. The discussion topic was, "Girls: A No Ceilings Conversation." It was live streamed on the Clinton Foundation website and co-hosted by Chelsea and Hillary Clinton. Later in the forum, the 34-year-old former first daughter said she had one more thing to say, and she thanked everyone for inspiring her. Afterward, she revealed the great news, which sparked applause from the attendees. She then turned to Twitter to tell the baby news, which garnered over 700 retweets within 30 minutes and has since been retweeted nearly 1,000 more times and favorited over 4,000 times.

Chelsea Clinton did not give any clue to the expected child's eventual date of delivery or sex and focused instead on her hopes to be as great a mother as she had and her happiness that the child will be born into a world with many strong young female leaders. She also hinted that this might be the first of multiple children.

Clinton is Vice Chair of the nonprofit Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton Foundation and a special correspondent for NBC News. Her husband, Marc Mezvinsky, is an investment banker. The two were married on July 31, 2010. The interfaith ceremony was held at Astor Courts in Rhinebeck, New York. Guests were served a healthy menu of vegan dishes and gluten-free cake (the groom is Jewish, whereas the bride is Methodist). The couple lived in the Gramercy Park neighborhood of New York until in 2013 they purchased a million dollar condominium unit in Madison Square Park. Married life has been well for the two; Mezvinsky even continued pursuing a doctorate degree a year after their wedding. They are also often seen hitting town at balls and galas.
