Former Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter was recently arrested after being reportedly involved in an altercation at a bar on Wednesday night in Florida. The singer was charged with a misdemeanor battery and was jailed at Key West, Reuters reported.

The news outlet said that Carter, along with his pal named Michael Papayans, were both involved in an altercation at the Hog's Breath Saloon. It was reported that the two ordered drinks from the bartenders but were not given more because the two appeared to be highly intoxicated.

After which, Carter and Papayans were asked to leave the bar, which prompted them to get physical. Carter reportedly punched one bouncer while Papayans head-butted an employee. The singer and his friend were then arrested and were sent to the Monroe County Jail.

The publication further reported that on Thursday afternoon, Carter was released from prison after posting a $1,500 bail. Meanwhile, videos and witnesses were also presented in Carter's Thursday hearing, giving confirmation to the alleged crime he committed.

Carter remained to be silent on the recent arrest controversy but he did, however, said a few words as he made his way out of jail. "The truth will come out," Carter said as quoted by TMZ.

Furthermore, the publication revealed a video footage showing the incident that happened last Wednesday night. It featured Carter saying "I'm so sorry, man!!" after police arrived at the scene before being arrested.

Carter, known to be one of the members of the hit 1996 boy band Backstreet Boys, alongside A. J. McLean, Howie Dorough, Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell, rose to fame and sold more than 130 million records, CNN reports.

Furthermore, Reuters reported that the band was formed back in 1993 and since then gained millions of fans and released songs including famous hits like "I Want It That Way" and "Shape of My Heart." Last year, Carter became a contestant on "Dancing With The Stars."

Meanwhile, as news agencies wait for the next hearing of the 35-year-old singer, his group has previously been rumored to be going on a 2016 tour with another famous '90s group, their female counterpart, the Spice Girls.

Spice Girls' Melanie B even fuelled rumors when she told The Telegraph, "I think it's our 20th year next year so we're going to be doing something at some point with hopefully all of us."

However, plans aren't final and rumors remain just that since Emma Bunton already clarified the claims. "Nothing's happening at the moment," she said on E! Online.  "If anything happens and it's concrete, and we decide on something, I will let you know."
