"The View" host Whoopi Goldberg is criticizing the idea of the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite, where celebrities announced to boycott the upcoming Academy Awards as reported by Us Weekly earlier this week. Goldberg aired out her opinions on her controversial show last Tuesday, calling out Spike Lee and Jada Pinkett-Smith, per Us Weekly.

Displeased with Lee and Pinkett-Smith boycotting the Academy Awards, Goldberg urged during her show that it's not the awards show's fault of only nominating white actors but the movie makers. The movie makers are resisting on taking in more people of color as actors in movies according to the publication.

"It's not that the problem is that the people who are nominated are too white. They're not looking at a movie and saying, 'Oh, that's very white. I'm not going to nominate that black movie.' They're not sitting there like that!" Goldberg said on the show as quoted by the news agency.

"What the problem is, the people who can be helping to make movies that have blacks and Latinos and women and all that -- that movie doesn't come to you. Because the idea is that there's no place for black movies," she added.

Furthermore, Goldberg explained that the issue can be seen in the hit film "Avengers," which have more than 70 white actors according to the Oscar winner herself. The problem is that the movie makers are not asking her or any people of color to go take such roles like the Marvel film.

Goldberg, who won a Best Supporting Oscar in 1990 for "Ghost" as reported by the news outlet, also reportedly slammed Lee and Pinkett Smith for announcing to boycott the awards show when the host for the Feb. 28 show is actually black.

The Daily Beast reports that comedian Chris Rock has been named as the host for the 2016 Oscars. However, Goldberg is not pleased with the decisions of Lee and Pinkett-Smith since it will be a "slap in the face" for Rock.

Furthermore, Goldberg insisted that "To boycott him seems just as bad as what everybody is saying," she said of Rock as quoted by the publication. The 60-year-old host went on to explain her stance that she is not boycotting the Oscars this year but will continue to criticize the films, which fail to represent people of color.

"That's the boycott you want!" Golberg said as quoted by the news agency.
