Danny Garcia and Robert Guerrero will collide for the World Boxing Council welterweight title on Saturday at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

The Garcia-Guerrero bout was not initially arranged as a title fight, but WBC recently announced that the welterweight title, which was vacated by the now-retired Floyd Mayweather, will be at stake on Saturday.

Garcia, a former junior welterweight champion, will also put his perfect 31-0 record on the line. The Philadelphia native dominated as a 140-pound fighter, and is looking to prove that he can also be a superstar in the welterweight division by winning the WBC title.

The 27-year-old Garcia, who is coming off a ninth-round knockout win against Paul Malignaggi, said that he feels he is a better fighter now after deciding to move up.

"I feel a lot better. I'm happier now. When I fought at 140, I was always mean while trying to cut weight. I was never in a good mood," Garcia told reporters via USA Today. "Now I'm able to think more, I'm able to be a lot smarter. My punches are crispier, and my stamina is better."

On the other hand, Guerrero is looking to make noise on Saturday to silence his doubters. The 32-year-old knows that most fans and analysts are saying that he does not deserve the WBC welterweight title shot but he vowed to prove his critics wrong on Saturday.

"This is a tremendous fight for me to get back on top and to get back in the ranks," Guerrero told Yahoo Sports. "To show the doubters and the media and everybody out there that Guerrero has got a lot left in him. I've been 100 percent prepared for this fight."

Guerrero, who owns a 33-3-1 record with 18 knockout victories, escaped with a split decision win against Aron Martinez in June last year, which came three months after absorbing a lopsided unanimous decision defeat to World Boxing Association welterweight champion Keith Thurman.

Garcia is a heavy favorite heading into Saturday's title fight but Guerrero is expected to give his opponent a run for his money. The Gilroy, California native is expected to try turn the fight into a brawl but it remains to be seen whether or not he can inflict damage to Garcia after his unimpressive performances in his last two fights. Garcia by knockout within 10 rounds.

The Garcia-Guerrero fight card, which will also feature Sammy Vasquez vs. Aron Martinez and Dominic Breazeale vs. Amir Mansour bout, will kick off at 8 p.m. ET. Boxing fans can catch the Premier Boxing Champions event on Fox and through live streaming via Fox Sports Go.
