The Pokémon Company will be celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the very first Pokémon video game this coming Feb. 27, 2016. In a report by Neurogadget, there are rumors that the much-anticipated "Pokémon GO" will be released on that same date and it was fueled further by Niantic's next "Ingress Anomaly."

Niantic is one of the co-developers of "Pokémon GO" and is known for the augmented reality mobile game called "Ingress." The software development company is known to hold an "Ingress Anomaly" regularly with the next one happening on Feb. 27, 2016 at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where Pokémon's "Train On" commercial was filmed.

However, Niantic's chief executive John Hanke is set to appear at the 2016 Game Developers Conference this coming March, where "Pokémon GO" will be showcased. According to the official GDC website, Hanke will show the attendees how the game works.

Those people attending the GDC 2016 will become the first players to see how the game works. They can also interact and explore the world of "Pokémon GO." The Niantic CEO will also discuss the augmented reality game's design and development as well as the next generation of augmented reality games for mobile devices.

"Pokémon GO" was announced to be for Android and iPhone users back in September of last year, per Game Spot. Pokémon's first augmented reality game will be free to download on Google Play and App Store. Additional in-app purchases are available.

"Pokémon GO" is set to come in with a small, watch-like device called "Pokémon GO Plus" that connects to a smartphone via Bluetooth. The "Pokémon GO Plus" can notify a player using LED and a light rumble if a wild Pokémon or Pokémon trainer is nearby.

However, Pokémon fans should not frown with this news. Nintendo will be releasing 3DS versions of Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow worldwide and Pokémon Green in Japan on Feb. 27 via the 3DS eShop. Siliconera translated the game's official manual and noted that all four versions of the game will not feature a Restore Point, where players can create a save point and be able to resume play at any point in the game.

Special limited-edition 2DS handheld consoles of the four original versions will also be released on the same date, per the official Pokémon website. Pokémon trading card fans will not be left out as the original and first ever base set of the trading card game will be re-released and available for purchase on Pokémon-Card.com.
