Chloe Grace Moretz appeared on “Saturday Night Live Korea” on March 5 and impressed everyone by speaking straight Korean.

The First American on SNL Korea

The 19-year-old actress stated all of her lines on the show in Korean. She did not just learn and memorize a few sentences, but actually played a character in a comic skit that lasted for almost three minutes. Moretz made headlines recently after it was announced that she would be playing a lead role on the live-action version of Disney's "The Little Mermaid."

The “Kick-Ass” star posted a video of her “SNL Korea” appearance on Instagram and captioned that it was exciting to be the first American to be on the Korean show and to only speak in Korean. She added the hashtags #Korea #KimchiSlap and #NOWOLSAEEE.

In the video, Moretz was wearing a traditional Korean dress and played a scene with a group of Koreans. Initially, they were seated at a table sharing a meal. The Korean actor said something that obviously offended Moretz. She burst into a rage and slapped the guy with kimchi, the traditional spicy Korean fare. The group proceeded to argue and Moretz eventually walked out. Sometime later, she returned to the room and said a few more lines before looking straight into the camera with her wide eyes as if making a strong point.

Not Her First Time

It was not actually the first time that Moretz appeared on “SNL Korea.” She previously appeared in an SNL short, where she was interviewed by a Korean. The actress said that she wanted to do more to please her Korean fans. First, the interviewer told her that it was good that she knows “Gangnam Style,” the Korean singer Psy and kimchi.

Next, a table was brought to the actress and she was told that she should learn how to eat the Korean way by stuffing her mouth with seaweed, sausages and rice. She happily obliged. Moretz proceeded to dance the hit song “Gangnam Style” with the group, although her dance moves needed more work. Subsequently, a woman approached and started to teach her how to speak Korean. Moretz was able to come up with a number of lines, to the delight of the group.

Moretz’s appearances on “SNL Korea” showed much about her versatility and fast ability to learn new languages. It is likely that she will be guest starring in more Korean shows in the future. If her Korean continues to improve, she might turn out to be the host next time.

More updates and details on Moretz and “SNL Korea” are expected soon.
