On June 7, the DVD to Pantelion's successful comedy "Busco Novio Para Mi Mujer" will be released. The film is the latest comedy by the film production company, Pantelion, responsible for some of the most successful Latin American films in recent years. Latin Post had a chance to speak with Sandra Echeverria, the producer and actress for the film.

Echeverria spoke about the challenges of working as a producer and actress and what learned through process. She looked to the future and how this experience has not only helped her grow as an artist but as a producer.

Latin Post: Tell me about your experience producing this film?

Sandra Echeverria: I produced this project and this has been a six year process. It's been a slow process because producing cinema in Mexico is not always easy but finally it's a reality and I am so grateful that it is happening now.

LP: How did you balance the work between producing and acting?

SE: It was complicated. I tried to separate both things. When I started acting I made sure to concentrate on the acting only and gave the producing responsibilities to my other producer. But it was a bit overwhelming. But I learned a lot from my mistakes and it has a great experience that I will definitely use to continue to find projects to produce in the future.

LP: What were some of the takeaways you learned?

SE: I learned to be conscience that producing and making a film is a very long process. I thought it was going to be maximum a year but when it took six years, I realized everything that a film requires. I learned a lot about producing and I think I now have a lot more experience. I think though the biggest lesson was to have patience because that is the way to get a project finished.

LP: It's the first time your working with Arath de La Torre. Can you tell me about the experience of working with this renowned actor?

SE: He's amazing. He is so professional and he is one of the people that best knows comedy. He is so talented. The difficult part of working with him was maintaining that serious character because he knows how to make you laugh and since this is a comedy, I had to hold my laugh. Arath also brought a lot of ideas to the table and brought a lot to his character. He also brought a lot more comedy than was originally intended for the film.

LP: As an actress what did you do to prepare for your role?

SE: We had a month of rehearsals with the director because we wanted to have the most real environment. We also wanted the character to be as authentic as possible and wanted to make sure that the audience understood why this character was the way she was. We had to find that balance so that she was not just seen as a difficult and complicated person.

LP: What was it like to work with the director Enrique Begne?

SE: It was amazing. I really liked working with him. He is a perfectionist and sometimes we would do up to 20 takes per scene. Sometimes it was too much because as an actor we become mechanical and we want to obtain the most natural performances. But he knew how to find the balance.

LP: Your career has taken different directions. You've worked in soap operas and film. What do you prefer and what do you want to continue doing?

SE: I don't prefer any. I just like to find projects with challenging and different characters. They can be in television, theater or film. I am open to working anywhere and in all types of genres as long as I like the story and the character.

LP: What are some of your challenges that you have had to face to get to where you are right now?

SE: Casting has always been a challenge. It's where you learn most and I think it's where I have learned to grow as an actor. You have to be prepared for castings and you have to learn the role in one or two days. You have to prepare the best tape possible in order to get the role. You have to get vulnerable in front of so many people and I think this is what led me to want to produce. If I want to interpret characters that I actually want to do, I have to create them myself and not wait for them to come.

LP: Do you want to produce any other film after this one?

SE: Yes I am already working with other writers to find the right project. I hope to start one soon.

LP: What advice would you give aspiring artists and actors?

SE: I think aspiring actors need to be prepared and continue to study. You need to work hard and continue to learn because you never stop learning in this career.
