Rev. Roger Jimenez, Baptist Pastor from Sacramento, is under fire for making controversial comments about the victims of the Orlando shooting that took place on June 12.

During a sermon made at the Verity Baptist Church, the same day after news of the massacre broke, Jimenez praised the attack that left 50 people dead and many others injured.

"Hey, are you sad that 50 pedophiles were killed today? No ... I think that's great. I think that helps society. I think Orlando, Florida's a little safer tonight," he said

Jimenez continued his hour-long sermon by stating that it's not normal for a man to like another man and added, "The tragedy is that more of them didn't die."

The comments were met by plenty of criticism. Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson was one of many who shared their distaste for Jimenez's comments.

The hateful comments made by a preacher in Sacramento do not reflect Christian values and have no place in our society," he tweeted.

Donald Bentz, who is the executive director of Sacramento's LGBTQ Community Center also commented on the pastor's sermon.

"We as the gay community support you should be able to worship as you see fit, but it's when you use the pulpit to incite violence or demean or discredit another class of people, just utter disgust," he said.

While the sermon was originally shared on YouTube, the video has been removed for violating policies and promoting hate speech.

While Jimenez's sermon has been removed, on June 14, the Verity Baptist Church shared a video of Jimenez, titled "Statistics on Sodomites," which continues to make claims about homosexuality and condemn members of the community.
