According to recent reports, "The Winds of Winter" release date may either coincide with "Game of Thrones" Season 7 or George RR Martin's upcoming 70th birthday in September.

The author has already updated on his official blog that he is not done with the book yet. Martin also said that he thinks that the book will be finished this year, but not making any promises, he updated on his official blog.

The battles he is talking about is Yunkai's siege of Meereen and Stannis' war on Winterfell. The author also claims that there will be more deaths in this book and more betrayals. He also hinted about the action on The Wall.

Speculations also indicate that "The Winds of Winter" may be split into two volumes because of its sheer size. Martin split "A Storm of Swords" and "A Dance with Dragons" into two volumes because of their length. Event though "The Winds of Winter" release date stays a mystery, these updates give a ray of hope to the fans that something big is coming.

Meanwhile, in recent news, "Game of Thrones" actor Neil Fingleton who played the character of Mag the Mighty on the show died on Saturday due to heart failure at the age of 36, Fox News reported. The 7ft 7in tall actor was UK and EU's tallest man and also a successful basketball player.

"Game of Thrones" season 7 is scheduled to air in summer this year. "The Winds of Winter" release date has not been confirmed yet so the fans should take this update with a grain of salt.
