In the latest "Overwatch" News, Blizzard Entertainment has officially announced the formation of their upcoming event, the "Overwatch" Pacific Championship, a professional-level eSports league based in Taipei, Taiwan.

"Overwatch" is a highly stylized team-based shooter game developed by Blizzard and set in a near-future version of earth. The game has garnered a lot of popularity since its release, which greatly contributed to its official entrance to the eSports realm.

According to IGN, the "Overwatch" Pacific Championship's first season will officially kick off on the 8th of April (AEST/NZST), with eight participating pro teams coming from different reaches of the Globe. These 8 teams are Australia's Blank Esports, Hong Kong's Hong Kong Attitude, Japan's SunSister and DeToNator GOLD, Taiwan's very own Machi Esports, Thailand's Fireball, ahq eSports Club, and Flash Wolves, all fighting out for roughly NTD$8.3 million (USD$264,440).

The competition will be taking place over an 11-week season, where each team will be playing each other for positioning and qualification for the top 3, and where the top three teams will be advancing to the playoffs. All matches are going to be live streamed via the Official Blizzard Taiwan Live Stream Website each week from Friday up to Sunday.

In other news, Bleeding Cool reports about how "Overwatch" game director Jeff Kaplan took to Reddit just last night to answer numerous questions coming from the "Overwatch" community about the overall state of the game, the current direction it is headed to, experience from working at Blizzard, to even some personal questions about Kaplan's journey into game development, and his personal life.

According to one of Kaplan's answers, he stated that he and Blizzard are currently making games that are mainly focused towards making players happy and not just to win awards. He also went on to say that he was extremely happy that he and his "Overwatch" team have been recognized and praised.

Kaplan closed out his statement by saying that everything that has happened made him feel really good that the "Overwatch" team received some recognition for their efforts. More "Overwatch" news will be coming soon.
