Derrick Rose had another disappointing year after sustaining another knee injury that forced him to miss the majority of the 2013-14 NBA season, but the Chicago Bulls superstar is now back to full strength.

Rose, who sustained a torn meniscus in his right knee in just his 10th game coming off an ACL injury in his left knee, started participating in full-contact drills during Chicago's first-round series against the Wizards.

According to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune, Rose would play if the season started tomorrow.

"Rose began taking full contact in the form of one-on-one or two-on-two or three-on-three offday sessions late in the first-round series against the Wizards. Rose has had no setbacks and, if the season started tomorrow, would be fine to play," Johnson wrote.

Sources also indicated that Rose, who averaged 15.9 points to go along with 4.3 assists and 3.2 rebounds last season, will participate in Team USA's minicamp that is scheduled to start on July 28 in Las Vegas.

USA Basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski expressed confidence that the former Most Valuable Player will be healthy enough to compete for a spot in the national team, who will defend their title in the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain in September.

"We feel that Derrick is going to be ready to go," Krzyzewski said. "But we'll see that week. Hopefully, he is. He was my starting guard [for the] world championship team in Istanbul, Turkey in 2010."

Krzyzewski expressed frustration over the unfortunate turn of events in Rose's career over the last two seasons, but the two-time Olympic champion coach is still hoping that Rose's possible stint in the World Cup will help him regain his old form.

"I feel bad that these last couple years have interrupted what should be a sensational career for him," Krzyzewski said. "Hopefully, this will be a jump start to the NBA season and maybe we can win the World Cup along the way."

Rose's previous appearance with Team USA worked wonders for him; he turned into a more complete player, leading to an MVP season in 2010.
