Federal Judge Aileen Cannon, who was appointed by Donald Trump, threw out the former president's bid to dismiss the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case in Florida, ruling that the Trump legal team's arguments for dismissal did not have merit.

Judge Cannon appeared to be skeptical of the Trump team's arguments of a separate effort to scuttle the prosecution before the trial. She wrote in her order that while the Trump lawyers raised "various arguments warranting serious consideration," it did not merit the dismissal of charges.

The dismissal attempt being thrown out came just days after a Mar-a-Lago employee, considered an important witness in the case, flipped and sat down for an interview with CNN, revealing he and other Mar-a-Lago employees were ordered to move boxes of documents, which they did not know at that time were classified.

According to the Associated Press, Cannon made it clear during the three-and-a-half hours of arguments that she was reluctant to dismiss one of the four criminal cases that the man who appointed her was facing.

She added that dismissing the indictment is "difficult to see" and that it would be "quite an extraordinary" step to strike down an Espionage Act statute that the case is centered on. She also wrote in her order that the arguments that the Trump legal team were giving are "unconstitutionally vague."

"It's difficult to see how this gets you to the dismissal of an indictment," she told one of Donald Trump's attorneys after hearing their arguments.

Despite this, questions on when the case might proceed to trial will happen, as Trump's "Delay Delay Delay" tactics are pushing the case to after the elections. Should Trump win the presidency, he could order his Justice Department to throw out the cases against him, even if they have merit, no matter how strong the case is.

Vladimir Putin Says Donald Trump Was Upset in 2020 Because He Thought Russian Leader Liked Joe Biden

Meanwhile, as Donald Trump contends with his various legal cases, Vladimir Putin just told Russian state media that the former US president was upset with him in 2020 over his supposed preference for rival Joe Biden during that year's election, according to Business Insider.

"Here's what's curious. Even in his last year as president, Trump, who is a presidential candidate today, reproached me for the fact that I like Biden," he said in the interview with the state-controlled outlet. "This was more than four years ago. He told me in one of our conversations."

He added, "'You want him to win.' Excuse me, I'll say it like he did, it's just direct speech, 'You want Sleepy Joe to win.' He told me this when he was still president."

Donald Trump Floats Cutting Back Retirement Spending

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump recently sat down with CNBC's "Squawk Box," and there, he revealed that he plans to cut back on some very important spending.

He was asked about how he plans to resolve the long-term solvency problems of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. "So first of all, there is a lot you can do in terms of entitlements, in terms of cutting," he responded. "And in terms of, also, the theft and the bad management of entitlements - tremendous bad management of entitlements - there's tremendous amounts of things and numbers of things you can do."

The Biden campaign jumped on this, with the president tweeting out, "Not on my watch."

"If anyone tries to cut Social Security or Medicare, or raise the retirement age again, I will stop them," Joe Biden told a crowd during a New Hampshire campaign rally. "This morning, Donald Trump said cuts to Social Security and Medicare are on the table again."
