Amidst divorce rumors, Beyoncé reportedly could to open this year's MTV Video Music Awards in Inglewood, California on Aug. 24 -- without rapper husband Jay Z.

According to New York Daily News, MTV is said to be "begging" the Houston-bred singer to perform a medley of her greatest hits from her most recent, self-titled fifth studio album, which she released exclusively on iTunes last year without any promotion.

Moreover, Columbia Records and MTV are currently working together to convince Beyoncé to create video promos that would preview the potential performance. "Bey is going to be all over the show," a source revealed. "MTV is still working everything out, but they want her to open the show with a big production, which has still not been announced."

The R&B diva famously announced that she was pregnant with baby daughter Blue Ivy at the 2011 VMAs, revealing her belly and rubbing it in front of the audience. "It's still being worked out. Everyone at Columbia is scurrying around to make things happen," the source continued. "But judging by the amount of awards she was nominated for and her past history with the show announcing her pregnancy, it's pretty safe bet."

The "Partition" hitmaker leads the nominees with eight bids at next month's ceremony, including the Video of the Year for her collaboration with the Brooklyn emcee "Drunk in Love," while rapper Iggy Azalea and Eminem follow her with seven nods each.

The latest news comes after the reports claiming that the couple's relationship is "strictly business." The New York Post published: "There's still something there, even though it's not going to last. Business is always part of the equation. They know they're the king and queen of hip-hop -- and really, all of music. Neither wants to lose that."

Following her numerous successful collaborations with Jay Z, including the ongoing "On the Run" joint summer tour, Beyoncé still stands a chance to establish herself as a solo artist at 2014 MTV VMAs, as the source added: "MTV wants her and they want her solo."
