"Mortal Kombat X" is going to be a slight improvement to "Mortal Kombat 9," but it's the new fighting styles or other changed features that really make the game look interesting.

Three Choices, per Fighter

Each fighter will have three different styles of combat. It's your choice to pick which version of the character you want to fight with. Each style of fighting has its own advantages that you can utilize to dominate your opponent. Choose wisely because you definitely want to progress through the game by performing fatalaties on your opponents, not receiving them.

More Interaction with Environments

"Mortal Kombat X" characters are going to be able to take advantage of the in-level surroundings such as tree branches and sleeping dragons. They'll be able to swing from tree branches to build up speed and then attack their foes. Or, they can jump on top of a sleeping dragons head and get a vertical advantage. This could be just "Mortal Kombat X's" way of making the game more inclusive to the surroundings, or it might just be a fun way to see characters flying across the screen by swinging from tree branches.

Entrance Scenes Improved

In the past, a character would say a repetitive line, no matter which fighter he faced. So, if Scorpion faced Sub-Zero he'd make a taunt threatening Sub-Zero's life. Then, if Scorpion faced Raiden, he'd say that same taunt to Raiden. Now, the taunts and dialogue before bouts will be customized to the characters that are about to fight. This is certainly more of a personalized in-game experience that the repetitive dialogue in the past.

Fatalaties

Of course, "Mortal Kombat" wouldn't receive a mature (M) rating if it didn't have all the gore and disturbing finishing moves. There will be some new fatalaties to be on the look out for. You'll have to learn how to perform these moves though before you can take advantage of them.
