Though many celebrities have joined the trend of partaking in The ALS Association's ice bucket challenge, Pamela Anderson has opted out of the popular online movement that brings awareness to Lou Gehrig's disease.

Those who participate in the challenge have the option of drenching themselves in ice water or donating money to the ALS Association. Participants must also challenge another person to take part in the cause.

On Wednesday, Anderson posted a Facebook message explaining that her reason for not participating in the challenge is due to the ALS Association's alleged animal testing during its research experiments. [Us Weekly]

"Sorry, I can't bring myself to do your Ice bucket challenge," she wrote. "I enjoy a good dare, It's always good to bring awareness -- in fun, creative ways, I don't want to take away from that. I thought instead, I'd challenge ALS to stop animal testing."

Anderson, who is known for her animal rights activism, continued the Facebook post by specifying the types of animal testing that she claims are practiced by the association.

"Recent experiments funded by the ALS Association, mice had holes drilled into their skulls, were inflicted with crippling illnesses, and were forced to run on an inclined treadmill until they collapsed from exhaustion. Monkeys had chemicals injected into their brains and backs and were later killed and dissected," she said.

So far, Anderson's Facebook post has garnered over 60,000 likes and over 23,000 shares on Facebook.

On Thursday, motorcycle racer, Carey Hart slammed the ice bucket challenge in a different way.

"It's extremely creepy and annoying how obsessed people are w/ this ice bucket challenge. The purposes is 2 raise money for an awful disease," he tweeted.

"If you are that into seeing people dump buckets of ice water over their heads, go find a wet t shirt contest," read his last post. "Time to find a hobby, people."

Us Weekly reported the ALS Association's total amount in donations has reached $41.8 million thus far.
