The movie "Serena," which stars Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper, was filmed way back in 2012. Since then, there has been speculation over why the movie had not been picked up for release.

But now, there's some good news because the much-awaited trailer has just dropped, Entertainment Weekly reports.

From the look of the trailer, this movie, the third collaboration for the two stars, is the darkest by far.

It seems that "Serena" is an epic drama, where Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence play husband and wife George and Serena Pemberton. They are madly in love with each other and full of lofty ambitions.

They build and run a large timber company during the Depression era, against a North Carolina backdrop, and they will not allow anyone to get in the way. The character of Serena shows that she's an equal to anyone as she goes about hunting rattlesnakes, overseeing loggers in their employ, saving a man's life, releasing a hawk from her arm and chopping down a tree with an axe, according to The Wire.

However, their marital relationship turns sour when Serena (Lawrence) learned that she could not have children and that her husband already has a child.

According to some critics that have seen the trailer, it seemed confusing because there does not seem to be a clear focus. However, they surmise that the movie will start off by showing the Pembertons start out as wealthy timber magnates, but by the end of the movie the couple will eventually end up poor and destitute.

The movie is based on a 2008 bestseller from Ron Nash and is directed by Susanne Bier. It will debut at the BFI London Film Festival, which starts on Oct. 8. It is scheduled to hit theaters in the U.K. on Oct. 24. The release date in the U.S. has not yet been confirmed.
