There will be lots of family drama when the Mikaelson clan reunites in Season 2 of "The Originals" this fall.

Not only will Mikael Mikaelson stir up trouble for his sons Klaus and Elijah in the new season, the brothers will also be forced to deal with the wrath of their wicked mother, Esther.

In an interview with E! News, actor Sebastian Roche opened up about his character Mikael and the role he will play on the popular series next season.

"The first five episodes are going to be very intense and it's going to be quite an epic season, there's no question about it. We're in store for some amazing confrontations between Mikael and his sons," he said.

Despite spending time on The Other Side, Mikael is still on the hunt for vengeance against Klaus for killing Esther.

"Mikael has this thousand-year-old rage and desire for revenge for his son," Roché said. "There are going to be some different aspects this time around but that desire for revenge will be there still. You'll see different layers to the character through flashbacks, and we'll see the history of some of the other characters of our family as well as others like Hayley and Cami and Davina."

The actor also dropped spoilers about Mikael's relationship with Davina, who resurrects him and takes control of him.

"There are moments where you'll see that Mikael and Davina have this almost teacher/pupil relationship, even though Mikael is rough around the edges in those terms, but he doesn't mind her for being brave enough to stand up to him," he said. "Because nobody stands up to Mikael so anyone who does gets more credit in his eyes. That relationship is going to be an interesting one to watch."

He went on to tease what will happen when Mikael and Esther finally reunite after spending more than 1,000 years apart.

"He doesn't know Esther returned too," Roché said. "I can't wait until they meet and find out they've both returned. It will be quite interesting when Mikael finds out that he's surrounded by his entire family again. The emotional ramifications of that encounter will be fascinating. We don't know if she's going to come back as who he knew 1,000 years ago, but she's still the embodiment of his wife. She was someone that he loved deeply and she was torn away from him. Then he took the blame for her death, so of course it's going to be very emotional."

Although fans may be itching to see an entire Mikaelson family member reunion, "I don't know if this will happen, but I'd really love to see the whole Original family meet, together, in a mea culpa session in modern times." Roche said. "And I would be excited not to see me die! For a whole season! I tend to die in everything I do so I'd like to survive this time."

According to Dread Central, the synopisis for the first episode of Season 2, "Rebirth," reads:

"After months of being holed up inside his compound, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) enlists the help of Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) in plotting his revenge against the Guerrera werewolves, and vows to take down anyone who poses a threat to baby Hope's existence. Elijah watches helplessly as Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) spirals downward while mourning the loss of her daughter and struggling to adapt to her new hybrid status. Exiled by the Guerrera werewolves, who now control the French Quarter, Marcel is still reeling over the destruction of his vampire family, and attempts to rebuild his home with the help of Josh (guest star Steven Krueger). Elsewhere, Cami (Leah Pipes), who is attempting to regain some normalcy in her life, seeks comfort in a surprising place. Last, Davina (Danielle Campbell) continues her plan to use Mikael (guest star Sebastian Roche) against Klaus, but gets sidetracked when she meets the mysterious, yet charming Kaleb (guest star Daniel Sharman), who holds a few secrets of his own."
