During an interview on "The Wendy Williams Show" that aired Tuesday, Nov. 4, Kelly Ripa revealed that she took away phone and computer privileges when daughter Lola, 13, was caught using her cell phone during study time, reports E! Online.

"I walked into her room, and she wasn't there," the "Live! With Kelly and Michael" co-host told Williams. "But there was her phone, and it's not supposed to be there during study hours. So I was like, 'Let me just dial in her code.' ... She knows I know her code, but she doesn't think I would ever abuse that privilege."

Lola was supposed to be studying for a Spanish test. Instead, Ripa discovered that she had been posting Instagram comments.

Ripa said when she confronted her daughter, she told her that she's half-Mexican and her grandmother is a Spanish teacher -- she's not allowed to fail Spanish.

"She broke the rules," the former "All My Children" star said. "We are, like, very fair parents, and we will give you certain freedoms. When you want privacy in a not private world, you can't have privacy and be on Instagram. I'm sorry, that's not how it works. Privacy is for if you want to write a letter or write in your journal. I'm not going to read that. But if you want to tweet about what a pain in the butt your mom is, I'm gonna see that."

Williams asked Ripa if she feels any pressure to be nice all the time.

"I just feel an obligation as her mom to keep her living in the real world," Ripa said. "I don't think she likes me, but I don't care. I'm like, 'I'm not your friend, I'm your mom. I'm not your friend.'"

Kelly and Mark Consuelosh ave been married for 18 years. They are also parents to sons Michael, 17, and Joaquin, 11.
