Last week's mid-season finale of NBC's "Grimm" left viewers on the edge of their seats. Unfortunately, fans are going to have to wait until next year to find out what will happen to Monroe, who was kidnapped by Wesen hate group, Juliette, who has become a Hexenbiest, and Wu, now that he has discovered the truth about Nick.

In the last episode, "Chupacabra," Nick and Hank faced off with a legendary Latino beast called el chupacabra after a doctor became infected with a disease that turned him into the vicious monster while working in the Dominican Republic. Luckily, Monroe and Rosalee were able to create a cure, but they only had enough ingredients for one shot. As a result, the cure was given to the doctor's wife, who he had infected, and the doctor died, reports Entertainment Weekly.

During the investigation to find el chupacabra, Wu saw the doctor in chupacabra form. He then had a hard time coping with this revelation and ended up getting drunk at a bar, getting into a fight and being arrested.

In addition, Monroe and Rosalee suffered from another attack by the Secuddum Naturae Ordinem, a purist group that targets interspecies marriages. Not only was the couple forced to postpone their second attempt at a honeymoon, but one of the KKK-like group members kidnapped Monroe.

Another unexpected twist occurred in the episode when it appeared that Juliette was pregnant, but she instead turned into a Hexenbiest.

According to Carter Matt, "Grimm" will return after a brief hiatus on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, with the episode "Wesenrein." A preview video reveals that Nick's Grimm-cop complex will be put to the test as he tries to save Monroe.

"He lives on two sides of the law, but this time he has no choice; he must cross the line. Can he save Monroe before he pays the ultimate price?," says the narrator in the teaser.

"Grimm" actress Bree Turner recently dropped a few spoilers about what fans can expect during the rest of the season and from her character, Rosalee. She teased that the hate group harassing Monroe and Rosalee will continue to be a strong storyline when the series returns in January.

"There's a lot of Blutbaden that are coming out that are against our marriage, our mixed marriage," she told Dread Central. "To see different kinds of Blutbaden [is] really interesting ... [and to] compare it to how much Monroe has bucked the system in terms of his species and what they're known for; to see sort of a path that Monroe could have gone down if he wasn't reformed is interesting to compare."

Turner went on to tease that a few upcoming episodes will center on the hate group.

"Two to three episodes are on this [topic], single-handedly dealing with this group of people," she said. "It just gets so dark. It gets so heavy... our writers are so good, and I'm so happy that they didn't hold back at all. They really went for the darkness and the ugliness of the subject matter, and you know, [for] Rosalee and Monroe it's life and death at this point."

Turned also compared the Secundum Naturae Ordinem Wesen to the KKK and "despicable monsters."

"This is a major storyline for the second half of the season dealing with will they even physically survive this terror attack?" she continued. "How are they going to respond to being on the front line of change? And can their relationship really hold up to this? This isn't like the in-laws not liking you. This is very, very serious life and death stuff. So very scary, very hard to shoot, and very satisfying. We're thrilled and simultaneously sick to our stomachs the whole time, but I think the fans are going to really enjoy it."

Turner said she is confident that Rosalee could handle motherhood, if she does eventually become pregnant because she is a "strong character."

"... I can't imagine she's going to be putting her skills on the back burner if she chooses motherhood," Turner explained. "She's already been juggling a lot. I'm sure she can juggle that, too, but you know, if this is something that we're going to go down, I think it doesn't necessarily have to be straightforward, as most things in our show aren't; usually they're filled with twists and turns and complications. And what I love about what we do on our show is we take these magical worlds, these two creatures, these two Wesen having real life problems, and just because they're not wholly human and they live in this magical kind of world, it doesn't mean that they don't deal with the same kind of stuff that regular people deal with."

According to Turner, a pregnancy storyline would bring interesting "complications" to Rosalee's journey.

"I mean, that's something that a lot of people deal with, and the fact that they are a mixed species, it might not be a straightforward kind of process having a baby," she said. "Getting pregnant and dealing with those heavy issues might be interesting to see through the eyes of two Wesen."

Season 4, Episode 8 of "Grimm," "Wesenrein," premieres on NBC on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at 9 p.m. ET.
