Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho denied reports linking the Blues to a possible lucrative transfer deal with FC Barcelona to acquire superstar forward Lionel Messi.

Recent reports indicated that the Blues are willing to pay 200 million pounds to acquire Messi, who previously hinted that he would consider leaving FC Barcelona in the future.

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas also said in a recent interview that Messi deserves to finish his career at Barca, but he insisted that he would love to play with his former teammate at Stamford Bridge.

"I'd love that to happen. I'd be all for it," Fabregas said of Messi moving to Chelsea via Goal. "As a Barca man, I believe that Messi deserves to retire at Barca for all that he has given the club. He is a legend that has changed Barca history but, as his teammate and friend, without doubt I'd love to have Leo by my side."

But when asked about the possible move, Mourinho stressed that the Blues do not have a chance to acquire Messi through a lucrative deal, citing the Financial Fair Play regulations imposed by FIFA.

Mourinho said that acquiring a player like Messi, who recently broke the Spanish La Liga and UEFA Champions League scoring records, requires huge financial investment, which could violate FIFA's financial restrictions.

"No, we have no chance of that," Mourinho said of acquiring Messi via ESPN FC. "Because there is at this moment the financial fair play and with the financial fair play we have to follow certain rules, certain numbers, and we obviously have no conditions to buy, as you were saying, a 'super amazing player' obviously paid with super amazing numbers that Chelsea in this moment we cannot do."

When asked how much Barca's possible asking price for Messi will be if they decide to move the Argentine superstar, Mourinho said that he has no idea because he is also unsure if Barcelona will really think of parting ways with the 27-year-old forward.

"I don't even know because I don't think they ask because I don't think they want to sell, so it's even more difficult for everyone," Mourinho added.
