Ellen DeGeneres began her 57th birthday celebration on Sunday by spending quality time with her leading lady, Portia de Rossi, on the beautiful California coast.

Sun setting behind the clouds, DeGeneres and de Rossi captured a makeup-free selfie on the beach that radiated love and happiness.

"My last sunset of 56 with my favorite person," DeGeneres wrote on Twitter about the sunset beach picture of her with her wife.

DeGeneres officially turned 57 on Monday, and she kicked off her birthday celebration on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" with guests U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, Olivia Munn and Keith Urban.

Huffington Post reports Vice President Joe Biden surprised DeGeneres by giving her a White House bathrobe with the presidential seal embroidered on it.

"A gift to Ellen from Joe, so you're comfortable," Biden said on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."

Biden was a guest on the show to talk about the Affordable Care Act. To the disappointment of many, Biden did not dance with DeGeneres.

"Can't dance, don't make me," he said to DeGeneres as he came on stage for the interview.

Meanwhile, Olivia Munn arrived on set baring food gifts for the talk show host. The two friends wore matching gold "Besties" necklaces during Munn's segment.

In addition, Urban serenaded the former "American Idol" judge with a special version of his new song.

DeGeneres wasn't about to celebrate her birthday without involving fans: She gave away two brand-new Mercedes-Benz cars to unsuspecting fans.

Hollywood Reporter reports age 56 proved to be highly successful for DeGeneres. She hosted the 2014 Oscars, making it the most watched Oscar broadcast in well over a decade. The Oscar appearance resulted in her celebrity-filled "selfie" with Brad Pitt, Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lawrence and more, which became Twitter's most retweeted photo ever. The star also launched Ellentube, a video portal and iOS app, where registered users can upload family-friendly content that may be broadcast on her talk show.
