Last month, a picture that showed Cindy Crawford in a bikini and was said to be unedited ended up being a fake, according to TMZ

The photo of the supermodel went viral. It showed the model in a way that no one had seen her before.

Headlines like "Unretouched photo of Cindy Crawford causes a Twitter storm" and "Cindy Crawford should cover up now" led many readers to believe they were seeing a real photo. Some even applauded the picture, saying it was an "honest" portrayal of the supermodel's body.

Now, the photographer who shot the photo for Marie Claire Mexico magazine, John Russo, says it was a stolen photo and heavily altered. He is threatening all media outlets and people that posted the picture with a lawsuit if they do not take it down.

Russo says in the letter drafted by his lawyers the image was "significantly doctored/altered and does not accurately reflect the original image and it was released without either the photographer or Ms. Crawford's knowledge or consent."

"It has been falsely claimed that this photograph represents an un-retouched image of Cindy Crawford. This is not true," Russo said. "It is a fraudulent altered version of my photograph. I am grateful that this fact has been brought to the public's attention and that corrections are being run in the media."

The letter is working, and media outlets are taking down the fake photo and apologizing.

Even though he was not obligated to, Crawford's husband, Rande Gerber, posted a real picture of how Cindy Crawford looks in a bikini on Valentine's Day. The picture does not show any wrinkle or flab. At 49, Crawford is still in phenomenal shape and has not shown any signs of aging.
