Boxing commentator Bob Sheridan is aching to see Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao collide on May 2 at MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Sheridan said in an interview with On The Ropes Boxing Radio that he is expecting a close fight between the two boxing superstars. But if he will be asked to place a bet on fight night, Sheridan said that he will pick Pacquiao.

The Hall of Fame commentator knows that Mayweather, who holds a perfect 47-0 fight record with 26 victories by knockout, is considered a favorite in the upcoming showdown, but Sheridan thinks the odds will be a little bit closer heading into fight night.

"Whether I'm announcing it or not, my heart is with Pacquiao," Sheridan said. "I'll probably bet on Pacquiao because you get a little bit better odds on it. I think the fight is an even fight, I don't think that the odds that initially came out are to generate action on Pacquiao."

Sheridan said that both fighters are very motivated as they are both looking to protect their legacy. He said Mayweather wants to keep his unblemished record before he retires, but he thinks Pacquiao is more pumped up because he wants to shut Mayweather up.

Pacquiao, who holds a perfect 57-5-2 record with 38 knockout victories, will be the 46th fighter who will try to hand Mayweather the first defeat of his career. The Filipino boxer will defend his World Boxing Organization welterweight title, and will also try to steal the World Boxing Council and World Boxing Association welterweight belts on May 2.

While he believes Pacquiao will likely win in the upcoming fight, Sheridan is wary of having a controversial decision on fight night. He said that the contrasting styles of both fighters will make it difficult for judges to decide, which makes him believe that the fight could end in a questionable decision.

"Mayweather will be his usual counter punching and elusive self and move and pick his shots to go offensive. Pacquiao will try to keep pressure on him all the time and maybe land heavier blows during the course of the fight, and that's where the controversy is gonna be, in those close 10-9 rounds," Sheridan said.
