During a recent appearance on British talk show, "Loose Women," Antonio Banderas announced his decision to become a fashion designer.

Banderas, who is best known for acting in films such as "The Mask of Zorro," Spy Kids," and "Desperado," revealed that jumping into the world of fashion design has been something he's contemplated for a long time.

As he embarks on his new career path as a fashion designer, Banderas will study fashion design at Saint Martins University, he said.

"I need knowledge to take steps in that territory in the future. It makes me feel actually very young to put the elbows on the table again and try to understand another reality and another thing," he said about his decision to attend the university.

The Huffington Post reports that Saint Martins University is a renowned art and design institution that has paved the way for an impressive alumni roster of noted designers including Stella McCartney, John Galliano, and the late Alexander McQueen.

Banderas didn't specify whether he plans to create a women's or men's clothing line once he graduates, but he did assure fans that he will continue acting while simultaneously pursing a career in fashion design.

"Of course I won't stop my professional life, I'll continue acting, directing, but this is a new thing," he said.

Banderas' "Loose Women" interview follows his sit-down with Hola about his film, "Automata," which stars him and his ex-wife, Melanie Griffith.

Though Griffith and Banderas are no longer together, Banderas said that he enjoyed working with her on the film and addressed the relation of the film to the end of his romance with Griffith.

"It's curious because Melanie and I met as actors [on 1995's Two Much], and then for the 20 years of our relationship we didn't shoot together," he explained.

He added, "Then, at the end of our relationship, we're back together again on the screen. There is a very curious thing in the movie which I realized when I first saw it. At the end, there's a moment where she tells me 'Goodbye, Jacq Vaucan,' and I say 'Goodbye Cleo,' and that somehow is the close of our relationship."
