The race to get an Xbox One or PlayStation 4 is about to heat back up now that Sony and Microsoft will bring in fresh supplies of game consoles following the holiday.

As of Christms eve and into Christmas day, the supply was incredibly limited to the point where most shoppers were relegated to buying on third party websites such as eBay as opposed to the major retailers, many of which were already empty handed even a week before the big holiday.

The supply was so limited that some people even accused the big video game companies of intentionally creating supply shortages. Sony, however, has laughed this off as an untrue accusation.

"Do you create an artificial shortage because you want there to be a feeding frenzy? No you don't," a Sony executive said during a PlayStation blog in mid December. "The holidays only come around once a year so that's really when you want to take advantage of the market opportunity."

It really is not surprising that the game consoles were sold out so soon considering that it has been nearly a decade since we last saw a major console release aside from the Wii.

Christmas Morning Frenzy

Those who were able to get their hands on an Xbox One and/or PlayStation 4 by Christmas Day were as vocal as ever on social media. People posted pictures on Twitter and Instagram in excitement after finding the game console(s) nestled under their three.

Are you one of the many people who got a new game console today? If so, which one did you get? Let us know in the comments section!
