Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola played down reports linking him to a summer move to Manchester City to replace incumbent manager Manuel Pellegrini.

Guardiola still has a year left in his contract with Bayern Munich, but he is continuously being linked to a move to Manchester City after the club failed to defend their Barclays Premier League title this season, finishing second to new champions Chelsea.

Guardiola reportedly met with Manchester City officials Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain last month to talk about a possible deal. Soriano and Begiristain worked with Guardiola during their time at FC Barcelona, but the Bayern Munich manager reiterated that he is committed to coaching at Sabener Strasse next season.

"I have said it 200 million times that my future lies at Sabener Strasse," Guardiola said in a news conference. "I have one more year left on my contract. I will be here next season."

Guardiola is also aware of the criticisms because of their recent performances. Former Bayern Munich Lothar Matthaus and club honorary president Franz Beckenbauer took a swipe at Guardiola after their 1-0 loss to Augsburg on Saturday, but the 44-year-old manager said that he is not thinking of what other people are saying against him.

The Spanish manager, who has led Bayern Munich to several titles since joining the club in 2013, also went under fire after the German powerhouse club took a 3-0 loss to FC Barcelona in the Champions League.

"I am not here to be the best coach in the world," Guardiola said when asked about his critics. "I am here to do my best, just like I did at Barcelona. If that's not enough for journalists, former players-turned-pundits or the honorary president, I am sorry."

ESPN also reported on Sunday that Manchester City denied the rumored deal with Guardiola. Current manager Pellegrini is in danger of losing his job after also failing to advance to the quarterfinals of the Champions League, but a source close to the situation insisted that there is no agreement between City and Guardiola.
