Ryan Reynolds recently fulfilled a young cancer patient's wish to meet his favorite comic book character, Deadpool, E! News reports.

Reynolds, who will star as Deadpool in the upcoming Marvel film of the same name, invited the young boy to spend a day with him on the set. Reynolds later took to Instagram on Friday, May 22, to share his experience on set with the young cancer patient whose name is Tony Acevedo.

Acevedo's meeting with Reynolds was made possible through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

After Acevedo expressed his desire to meet Deadpool, Reynolds wrote about it through Instagram.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, when Acevedo was asked why he wanted to meet Deadpool, he responded, "Deadpool never dies."

Reynolds revealed that Acevedo currently suffers from Hodgkin's disease, which E! News explains via the U.S. Library of Medicine is a typically curable form of cancer that rarely affects children.

E! News reports that this is Reynolds' second time taking on the role of Deadpool. He first played the comic book character in the film "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." He is now starring as the same character in a standalone Marvel film that is set to hit theaters on Feb. 12, 2016.

Reynolds' encounter with Acevedo follows his hit-and-run car accident with paparazzi while filming "Deadpool" last month. At the time of the hit-and-run accident, Reynolds' rep told ABC News that he was walking toward his car in the parking lot of his Vancouver hotel when a paparazzi's car hit him and sped off.

"The man fled the scene. Ryan is okay," his reps told ABC, adding that the crash was minor. Police official Brian Montague spoke to CBC News about the hit-and-run and confirmed that Reynolds suffered no injuries. Following the incident, the hotel where Reynolds was staying released a statement assuring it has "extended full assistance to authorities."

Reynolds also tweeted about the incident in a playful message. When a local television station requested a response from Reynolds about the incident, he tweeted that he would only call them if they re-aired the show "Beachcombers."
