Former world welterweight champion Andre Berto claimed that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is harassing him via phone calls.

Sources disclosed to TMZ Sports that Berto's close relationship with Mayweather's ex-fiancée, Shantel Jackson, and Jackson's new boyfriend, rapper Nelly, may be the reason behind the prank calls. Berto is Nelly's friend and was even a guest at the music artist's 40th birthday party in his L.A. mansion in November. The special event was said to have been prepared and arranged by Jackson herself.

Just recently, "The Money" placed Berto in the spotlight by naming him as one of the two possible fighters he is willing to face in his September fight.

"We're looking at two different guys. We're looking at Andre Berto, Karim Mayfield. We just don't know. Those are a couple of names... We just have to wait and see," Mayweather told reporters, including FightHype.com.

Now, Berto, who holds a 30-3 win-loss record, has put Mayweather in a bad light by claiming he has been receiving irritating calls from the undefeated champion.

"I know it's him on the other line. I can hear him breathing on the other end of the phone. Stop getting people to call my phone, bro, and asking me about this person and that person. Don't do that ****. That **** is lame, it's corny. He has too much money for that," the 31-year-old boxer told TMZ Sports.

The 147-pound fighter, who flattened Josesito Lopez via a 6th round knockout on March 13, at the Citizen Business Bank Arena in California, was really pissed off but is open to facing Mayweather on the ring, rather than continue with the non-sense drama. Berto is also confident that he could match the speed of the Forbes' 2015 World's Highest Paid Athlete.

"If we gonna fight, we gonna fight. If not, take my name out your mouth brotha. For damn sure it would be a good fight. I'm one of the only guys who can match him speed for speed and everyone knows me for having explosive power. It's going to be a lot better than that Pacquiao *** that you had," Berto said.

Mayweather's camp immediately countered Berto's accusations.

"He's not even on Floyd's speed dial," a representative of the 38-year-old boxer told TMZ Sports.

The spokesman also called Berto "delusional," and stated that "If they fight, we will see who has the last laugh."

Although some boxing aficionados think Mayweather was just horsing around when he mentioned Berto's name for his September fight, this issue may warrant something for the two boxers to settle on the ring.
