World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight Silver champion Amir "King" Khan could still get a shot against Floyd "The Money" Mayweather Jr. on September 12 in Las Vegas.

According to Los Angeles Times reporter Lance Pugmire's tweet, the British boxer is now one of Mayweather's choices in his 49th professional fight.

But Khan analyzed his supposed recent conversation with the "worried" Mayweather Sr. on the phone, and for him, Mayweather may still not choose to fight him.

"To be honest, I don't believe he wants the fight. He's really worried. I spoke to his father not long ago and he was very worried as well, coming up with any excuse not to fight me. He said I lost fights. Obviously the best have lost fights... Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson. It's how you come back from losses... So it seems to me that they are really worried and they are not looking to fight a style like mine, because they know it's going to be a tough fight," Khan told BoxingScene.com.

Khan claimed that the elder Mayweather admitted that his son "is going to take an easy fight."

"If he really believes that it's an easy fight then take it [with me], let's do it. But I don't really believe he wants it because he wants to take an easy route. He wants to take an easy route and avoid Amir Khan," Khan added.

A few days ago, the undefeated boxing champion told FightHype that he would likely face former two-time welterweight champion Andre Berto and former World Boxing Organization North American Boxing Organization (WBO NABO) welterweight champion Karim Mayfield on his next fight.

The news disappointed Khan who has been very vocal about wanting a showdown with "The Money." On Instagram, the British boxer posted a photo of himself donning a yellow gigantic glove, which he promises to wear in their fight if Mayweather says yes.

"I think he's messing his own legacy up. He needs to finish on a high. What he's probably going to do is leave the game on a low and I think that's the worst thing to do," Khan told RingCast.

Although Khan thinks of himself as a tough opponent for Mayweather Jr., he has actually not proven himself much on the ring the past few years, especially that he only took Carlos Molina, Luis Collazo, Julio Diaz and Chris Algieri, noted Boxing News 24.

Moreover, Khan's latest boxing ring performance against Algieri in Brooklyn on May 29, landed on a "flat note," described The Guardian.
