"Masters of Sex" was set to return for Season 3 on July 12, but fans can watch the premiere episode online now.

Catching many by surprise, Showtime released the premiere episode of the show, along with "Ray Donovan," on Thursday. The episode is available for free on iTunes, Showtime Anytime, as well as on select On Demand services, reports International Business Times.

This season fans can expect to see the return of Sara Silverman and will get to watch "The Good Wife's" alum Josh Charles make his series debut.

According to Variety, Silverman is set to reprise her role as Helen. Her character will have an arc that expands several episodes. This will include reconnecting with Betty, played by Annaleigh Ashford, and attempting to start a family as a lesbian couple in the 1960s period drama.

The series, based on real life events that changed medical history, left off with the sex study done by William Masters and Virginia Johnson, played by Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan respectively, making national headlines and the two enjoying the spotlight.

New this season is the character of Daniel Logan, portrayed by Charles. The character, according to Vine Report, has been described as a "self-made salesman who works in the perfume industry." Interestingly enough his character will try to "bottle the smell of sex" and try to sell it to consumers.

Rumors have also been going around that Daniel and Virginia will become romantically involved since their real life counterparts reportedly were.

The series recently made headlines with the release of its Season 3 promotional poster featuring Masters and Johnson on top of a Twister-themed poster, with Masters' wife Libby, played by Caitlin Fitzgerald, also featured.

Trailers for the Season 3 showed sexual interactions between Libby and Johnson, taking the relationship between the main characters to new grounds.
