"Pretty Little Liars" star Shay Mitchell tells Access Hollywood that she was just as surprised as many fans were when showrunners revealed the mysterious "A."

Unlike some of her co-stars, Mitchell decided to learn about the real "A" at the very last minute.

"It was kind of insane," the "PLL" star told Liz Hernandez and guest co-host Bryan Safi on Thursday's Access Hollywood Live of "PLL"'s Season 6 finale.

Although all eyes were pointing at Charles DiLaurentis as the key suspect behind all the blackmail and torture that ruled the Liars' lives for five years, it ended up being Alison's (Sasha Pieterse) estranged sibling CeCe Drake (Vanessa Ray).

"I wasn't one of the actors that asked the writers ahead of time to know who 'A' was. I didn't want to know, because when I get asked it's hard for me to lie," Mitchell said. "But it all made sense to me and I had a little sit-down with [showrunner] Marlene King and it was great. I loved the season finale."

She went on to talk about the mixed reactions from fans, saying that she loves any kind of attention the show gets.

"I know a lot of people had mixed feelings about it, but then again you can't please everybody. I thought it was insane," she said. "If you're passionate, that's all I want. If you're watching it and you're excited, that's what I want -- regardless of your opinion."

"Pretty Little Liars" will return for the second half of Season 6, where showrunners will jump five years ahead to tell the story of the Liars' adult lives.

Where will all the girls be? Will they ever leave Rosewood?

In the season's promo, Alison is a teacher in what looks like Rosewood High School and she signs her name on the chalk board with the surname "Mrs." Will all the old couples stay together?
