Apple is seemingly interested in the idea of adding touchscreen capabilities to the MacBook Pro, according to a new patent from the tech giant.

According to Apple Insider, the patent shows that Apple is looking to experiment with the touch system that "would offer the ability to sense a user's touch across a notebook's entire bezel, potentially allowing the company to eliminate physical buttons and allow for a more intuitive computing experience."

This is not all that surprising considering the emergence of other touchscreen computers such as the ChromeBook. However, it also brings up the interesting question of whether Apple is looking to make the computers more like their other touch screen products such as the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.

According to some reports, Apple is also looking at the possibility of introducing the touch screen capabilities to the MacBook Air as well, but it remains unclear whether the company will try it with both or just one of the two.

The company also said that there could be some alternative plans if all else fails. Instead, Apple might try experimenting with a touch screen virtual keyboard. At the very least, this could provide time for Apple users to get more acclimated to the idea of having touch screens on the computer instead of just the tablet and smartphone.

Of course, Apple also has plenty of other things in store for us in 2014. Most notably, the iPhone 6 is expected to hit the shelves in the next few months and another iPhone option may be released this year as well.
