Two weeks ago, Steve Hemmerstoffer aka @OnLeaks took to Twitter to expose some of the internal specs of the Samsung Galaxy A9. The reliable tipster discovered the data on the AnTuTu benchmark database.

Now, leaked images from China have added more details on the external side of things. Click here and here to view them.

The photos sourced from Mobile-dad showed the Galaxy A9 having speaker grilles on its chin, slightly below the three capacitive buttons. There was also a rotating camera on top, reminiscent of the Oppo N1.

The Oppo N1 launched in 2013 with a 13-megapixel camera that could rotate back and forth up to 206 degrees. The all-purpose camera was perfect for smartphone users who wanted a more consistent image quality, which the usual front and back cameras setup could not provide.

The unique camera feature didn't quite make an impression on the global smartphone market. But now with the largest Android device maker allegedly adopting the technology, it just might turn more than a few heads in the future.

At any rate, the Galaxy A9 is said to have a 5.5-inch 1080 x 1920 touchscreen display, Qualcomm's octa-core Snapdragon 620 processor, the Adreno 510 GPU, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage space and the Android 5.1 as its built-in OS.

It can be remembered that a Samsung smartphone carrying the aforementioned specs garnered raved results on GeekBench in early September. The benchmark results showed the device garnering a single-core score of 1,325 and a multi-core score of 4,461. The scores are pretty commendable, considering the Snapdragon 810-powered HTC One M9 and OnePlus 2 racked up single-core scores of 1,112 and 876 as well as multi-core scores of 3,738 and 3,673, respectively.

The Galaxy A8 has just been announced in July, which means that there's still a few months more before Samsung follows it up with the Galaxy A9.

According to Digital Trends, an import manifest in India revealed that individual components of the Galaxy A9 arrived in the country earlier this month. This hinted that the handset would not be available to the public at least until early 2016.

As far as pricing goes, the upcoming addition to the Galaxy A series is expected to cost slightly more than its immediate predecessor. As of the moment, the Galaxy A8 is retailing in India for 32,500 Indian rupees or roughly $500.

Samsung has yet to make an official announcement regarding the Galaxy A9. So, these rumors should be taken with a grain of salt. Perhaps, the Korean tech giant will make an announcement on the Galaxy A9 at the Consumer Electronics Show slated in January 2016.
