The Golden State Warriors are looking to continue their undefeated ways, as they travel to Talking Stick Resort Arena to face the Phoenix Suns on Friday night. It is the first of four matchups between these two Pacific Division teams this season.

The Warriors made history in their 111-77 win over the Los Angeles Lakers at home on Tuesday night. They now hold the record for the best start to an NBA season ever at 16-0. The defending champions broke the record held by the 1948-1949 Washington Capitols and 1993-1994 Houston Rockets.

"It's a special accomplishment any time you can do something that hasn't been done before. It's not going to be total dominance for 82 games," Stephen Curry said. The reigning MVP scored 24 points and dished out nine assists while Draymond Green added 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

According to Yahoo! Sports, Golden State is now aiming to break the 1971-1972 Lakers 33-game winning streak. As of now, the Warriors are on a 20-game winning streak dating back to the last four wins of the regular season.

Kobe Bryant was asked after the game if the Golden State had a chance in breaking the Lakers record. "Yeah, they could do it because they're good. It's a very young league and they've managed to put together a team of extremely intelligent players and extremely versatile players, and great shooters. And so I see no reason why they couldn't continue to extend the record," Bryant said via USA Today.

The Suns will try to halt the Warriors' winning streak and end their three-game losing slide. Phoenix lost their third game in a row against the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night, bringing their record to 7-8, but still good for seventh place in the Western Conference standings. They led as much as 17 points before the Pelicans made a rally and defeated them 120-114 in their own home floor.

"We gave them three 30-point quarters. Usually, we say if you give up two it's a loss. It's a long game and we didn't put our foot on the gas. I thought our guys just relaxed and we gave them the confidence," Suns coach Jeff Hornacek said per NBA.com.

Brandon Knight led Phoenix in the losing effort with 29 points, four rebounds, 10 assists, two steals and two blocks. Eric Bledsoe and T.J. Warren both scored 18 points while Jon Leuer chipped in 20 points and 10 rebounds off the bench.

The Warriors won the season series last year with three wins in four games. Tip-off in Phoenix is set for 9:30 p.m. ET and is available nationwide via NBATV and NBATV Canada. It will be broadcasted locally on FSAZ and CSN Bay Area.
