"Outlander," the hit time travel romance based on a series of speculative novels by Diana Gabaldon, has just been nominated for several Golden Globes, but lead actor Sam Heughan did not receive a nomination.

The Starz program, which will return for its second season in 2016, will be competing in the categories of Drama Series, Drama Actress (Caitriona Balfe) and Supporting Actor (Tobias Menzies).

As quoted in TVLine, "Outlander" executive producer Ronald D. Moore said, “We’re all very surprised and very honored. It’s really great for the entire team.”

Moore said that the actors and crew, who are currently shooting in Scotland, would take inspiration from the nominations.

“It’s a big shot in the arm for everybody,” he said. “It’s a lot of hard work to make this show and it’s great to see it recognized.”

Although Moore was obviously thrilled by the nominations, he did feel as if Heughan, who plays Jamie Fraser on the series, had been snubbed.

“I wish Sam had absolutely been recognized, too,” he said. “We always think of them as the Big 3 on the show. He’s a huge part of our success, so that is disappointing. He absolutely deserved to be recognized, as well.”

After the nominations were announced, the actor’s Twitter account came alive with fans calling foul. One Twitter user called it the “snub felt around the world,” while others simply said the actor had been robbed.

"Outlander" fans, who might be taking the award show snub too hard, may take comfort in the knowledge that the second season of the series is on its way.

According to Moore, not only is the show going to be more lavish, but it will have a completely different look from the first season.

“It feels like we start the show all over again,” Moore said. “You get this great sense that we’re on a big, long, epic adventure this year."
