When Motorola geared up to release updates on their flagship phone lineup, the Moto G 2013 was not included. Until today, it hasn't been, but thanks to CyanogenMod, the Moto G has been the recipient of the CM13 Custom ROM that will allow the device to download the Android Marshmallow OS.

According to NeuroGadget, the Moto G 2013 device was presented by CyanogenMod with a custom ROM just so it can be integrated with the latest from the Android OS. There are just a few things you need to know before you can start downloading the feature.

The thing you need to understand about the CM13 Android 6.0 Marshmallow is that it is a custom ROM that only works on Moto G's Falcon models. So before you start downloading it, check first if your device is capable of handling it. In order to do that, you can visit your phone's settings and click about phone. Here, you will be able to see and confirm the exact model of your device. Once you confirm that the device is compatible, make sure that you really want to download it because custom ROMs such as this will invalidate the warranty of your OS and may eventually cease sending software updates on your phone.

To prepare for download, you must clear the memory of your phone, so it is wise that you make a backup copy of your files. Make sure that you have enough battery in order to make a complete and undisturbed download; an 80 percent battery charge will suffice. To install the CM13 Android Marshmallow custom ROM, you will need to first download it on your computer along with the Google apps. Once you have done that, you can connect your Moto G to your computer using a compatible connector.

The zip file of the official CyanogenMod and the CM13 Android Marshmallow, along with the Google apps, must be copied on the phone's memory. After successfully doing that, you will be asked to turn off your phone and unplug it from the computer. You will then need to clear the phone memory as well as its cache. Then, return to recovery mode and install the three files one by one. After the installation, you will need to reboot your device in order to refresh it. Wait for a few minutes to complete reboot and confirm installation when asked.
