Fans may think they know everything about Fifth Harmony's Camila Cabello, but the singer recently revealed that she has kept a few things about her dating life secret.

During an interview with Teen Vogue, the 18-year-old discussed working with Mendes on their duet and the drama that comes with relationship gossip.

While the two have been friends for sometime, the last few months the two pop singers have been the subjects of much "are they or aren't they" speculation.

Due to this experience, the pop singer revealed that she isn't open to being public about her relationships anymore because there is no sense of normalcy when your relationships are gossip news.

This is why besides, Austin Mahone, who according to Billboard Cabello dated briefly 2014, the public doesn't know about the other guys she has dated, including the guy who inspired the lyrics for "I Know What You Did Last Summer," her duet with Mendes.

"I love that nobody knows who this song is about and I don't have to get asked about this guy in interviews," she said. "After that, I dated other people that nobody even knows I ever hung out with, because I didn't want there to be any tweets or selfies or pictures of us holding hands because I wanted it to be just mine and that person's.

"If there were to be tweets or pictures of us, it would be because I was with that person for a while and the relationship was really special and strong enough," she added.

So how does Cabello feel about all the romantic rumors surrounding her and Mendes? The popstar isn't worried or bothered by it.

"Honestly, I didn't really think about it. I think even if the duet wasn't released after we wrote it, there still would've been rumors because we still would be hanging out," she said. "I don't really listen to any of the gossip."

In fact, the singer is very sure of their friendship because unlike other people in the music industry, she explained, Mendes knows what it means to be a friend.

"He's not just a friend when it's easy or convenient, but he's there when it's hard, too," she said. "I feel like you can tell a lot about a person by the way they make other people feel about themselves. Shawn makes his crew, his fans, his friends, and everyone he cares about feel good about themselves."
