Simon Pegg is calling out the studio for its marketing of the new "Star Trek Beyond."

The actor is a very outspoken man. Not only did he rail against the "Star Wars" prequels, but he even went so far as to call out people for criticizing "Star Trek Into Darkness."

According to Geek.com, the writer for the new film, in which he also stars, thought that the recent trailer for "Star Trek Beyond" was not an accurate reflection of the actual film.

"I didn't love it, because I know there's a lot more to the film," Pegg stated. "There's a lot more story and a lot more character stuff, and a lot more, what I would call 'Star Trek stuff.'"

Pegg even noted that the studio might be overdoing it to convince fans to run to theaters next summer.

The trailer is very action packed, revealing little to nothing about the story for the new movie. Fans were very critical, questioning the direction of the franchise and suggesting it was going to continue spiraling out of control. The previous entry, "Star Trek Into Darkness," was well-received by critics, before being voted the worst film in the franchise by fans, according to The Guardian.

Many fans expect an action-packed film in the newest outing. Director Justin Lin is well known for the "Fast and Furious" franchise, where his style is highly energetic and constantly on the move.

"Star Trek Into Darkness" was a big success at the box office, bringing in close to $500 million worldwide. However, there is concern that the sequel may perform poorly due to the eventual fan backlash and Abrams' decision to move onto "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" instead of directing the next "Star Trek."

The upcoming film stars Zachary Quinto, Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Karl Urban and Pegg. Idris Elba will appear as the film's new villain. "Star Trek Beyond" hits theaters on July 22, 2016.
