The 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is the latest flagship convertible from the leading German auto maker, and it's getting rave reviews so far.

As reported by the Tri-Country Sun Times, even the base model S-Class Cabriolet does not disappoint and still manage to give an outstanding performance, despite being the most basic form of the convertible.

It's also interesting to note that this particular car is the first open-top luxury four seater from Mercedes-Benz since 1971 and it's the company's sixth variant of the current S-Class family.

Buyers can order the base S500 version or the top variant AMG S 63 4Matic in Europe, but according to TV News Room, performance test on the S500 confirmed that it can sprint from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just a quick 4.6 seconds.

But if that does not do it for you, there's also the option to get the AMG S 63 that is equipped with a more powerful twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 engine, which can provide 577 of horsepower and about 664 pound-per-feet of torque that can go 0 to 60 in just 3.9 seconds - within the same top speed.

According to the NSEA Voice, both variants of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class will sport a top speed of 155 MPH.

In addition, it will have added features like the intelligent Thermotronic automatic climate control, LED intelligent Light System and even electronically adjustable front seats with memory packages.

Furthermore, if you want to add some more dash of class to your Benz, an exclusive package that costs $8,611 for the S500 and $6,412 for the AMG S65 will come with a designo nappa leather upholstery, sun blinds in DINAMICA microfiber, door sills with illuminated "Mercedes-Benz" lettering, metal design badges, designed roof liner or a stainless steel boot sill. It also has a three-layer acoustic soft top and a drag coefficient of 9.29.

What's great about this car is, it's not all about looks. For a sporty convertible, it has a pretty decent fuel consumption as the S500 has ratings of 17 MPG for city and 26 MPG on highway, with a combined fuel consumption of 20 MPG.

The AMG variant on the other hand, has 15 MPG for city, 23 on highway and a combined consumption of 18 MPG.

As reported, the convertible will have a starting price of $151, 088 for the base model, with the AMG variant will require buyers to shell out a whopping $203,714.
