Former Miss Universe 2010 Ximena Navarrete recently spoke out about the criticism and controversy surrounding Miss Colombia and Miss Philippines on social media.

The model and actress took to Instagram to share her opinion on the backlash that both Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez and Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach, as well as the pageant host Steve Harvey, have been receiving.

At the Dec. 20 pageant, Miss Colombia was named the new Miss Universe, but then had the crown revoked, after Harvey realized he called the wrong winner.

Harvey apologized and reiterated that it was his mistake. Miss Philippines was then crowned Miss Universe 2015, but fans of both countries went off on social media, even creating a noticeable string of racist tweets against Harvey, reported Vibe.

Navarrete started off her message, which was accompanied by a photo of her time as the reigning Miss Universe, by stating that she has seen too many negative comments surrounding the pageant mix up and that people had no idea what they were talking about.

"What objective does attacking Miss Colombia and Miss Philippines have? All the contestants have the same dream of winning...Unfortunately only one can take the crown, God doesn't make mistakes. Why continue with insults and fighting?" she captioned a photo of herself greeting a young fan.

"Miss Universe is a program that is aired live, so they are exposed to errors happening. The host of the program (is a human being like anyone else ) made a mistake in naming the winner. No need to insult and condemn a person who simply made a mistake," she added.

Navarrete went on to state that she believes that Miss Colombia has a great career ahead of her because she has all of Colombia behind her.

The "La Tempestad" star also congratulated Miss Philippines on winning the title.

She wrote, "To Pia, the new Miss Universe, congratulations. It gives me happiness for the Philippines, who are big fans of beauty pageants and they deserved it."

Navarrete, who represented Mexico in the 2010 competition, concluded by reminding her followers that being Miss Universe is about more than wearing a crown. The title comes with a lot of hard work.
