Those who haven't had a chance to check out Season 1 of "Fear the Walking Dead" might want to get caught up soon, as the show is about to take fans on another thrilling season. Season 2 of the hit spin-off show on AMC will premiere on April 10 at 9 p.m. ET.

According to Den of Geek, the super-sized Season 2 of the prequel spin off has been set for a spring opening and will come right on the heels of its parent show, "The Walking Dead."

"FtWD" will run for a full season of 15 episodes. The season's format will follow the same playbook as "TWD." Fans will get the first half of the season with back-to-back episodes, and there will be a hiatus. The break will clearly not last as long as that for "TWD," but it will separate the two halves of the season, giving fans a much needed -- or torturous -- pause from the action.

The timing of the premiere is something that the network and the producers for both shows have envisioned for the franchise since the inception of the spin-off series. The goal is to have one of the "Walking Dead" shows airing all year round, minus the mid-season breaks of course.

There has also been news that Season 2 will feature the survivors of Season 1 on the water. But the oceanic setting does not mean the threat of zombies is gone. Comic creator and show producer Robert Kirkman has previously stated that there is going to be some major zombie-water action happening in the first part of Season 2.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, there is also news that Colman Domingo has been bumped up to a series regular for Season 2 of the show.

Domingo plays the mysterious character Strand. The land and sea themes for the first part of Season 2 will place him in a key role for the series, putting the character in cahoots with the survivors and their ultimate goal to reach safety.
