Netflix has picked up the rights to the remake of Norman Lear's classic sitcom "One Day at a Time."

According to Deadline the remake will have a twist as it will follow a Latino family this time and it will be 13 episodes. Oscar winner Rita Moreno will star in the show and it will tell the story of a Cuban-American family in which a recently separated former military mom explores her new single life and must coup with the daunting task of raising her radical teenaged daughter and socially adept tween son. Moreno will be the grandmother who helps the mother navigate parenthood.

The show will be a further push into multi-camera comedies as it is the third from Netflix. The first one was the upcoming "Full House" follow-up series "Fuller House" and the second one is the upcoming Ashton Kutcher sitcom "The Ranch."

"One Day at a time" was originally owned by Sony and this marks the third collaboration between Sony and Netflix. Previously the two collaborated on "Bloodline" and the upcoming Baz Luhrman drama series "The Get Down."

Netflix has ben developing original programing for the past few years and has seen several hit shows. Among those have been "House of Cards," "Orange is the new Black" and "Narcos." The company has also produced "Grace and Frankie" as well as "Sense 8."

Netflix has also started producing its own feature films including "The Ridiculous 6" with Adam Sandler and the Golden Globe nominated film "Beasts of No Nations." It currently has a Brad Pitt film on its slate.

Moreno is well known for winning the Oscar for "West Side Story" and is currently featured in CW's "Jane The Virgin." She has also starred In "Singing in the Rain," "The Electric Company" and "Oz." Moreno is also a Tony, Grammy and Emmy winner and recently received the Kennedy award honor. She is among the first people to receive all four honors in film, music, theater and television.

Production on "One Day at a Time" will be announced later this month.
