Rockstar North marks the end of an era as 15-year veteran Leslie Benzies exits the studio. The president of the regional arm of Rockstar Games, who played a huge part in the development of the gaming favorite "Grand Theft Auto" series, has been confirmed as no longer part of the company.

Rockstar Games confirmed the news in a report from Kotaku with an official statement that expressed their appreciation for their former colleague as well.

"We can confirm that Leslie Benzies went on sabbatical on September 1, 2014 and has decided not to return to work for the company," the studio revealed. "We are very grateful for Leslie's contributions to Rockstar over the last 15 years as we worked together to make some amazing games."

The statement continued, "Leslie helped us build an incredible team that will continue to create great experiences for our fans. Leslie will always be a friend to the company and of course we are going to miss him but we wish him the absolute best for the future."

According to the Kotaku report, Benzies and the rest of the Scotland-based Rockstar North was a huge part of the studio's success as a contributor in many of the company's biggest hits such as the "Grand Theft Auto" installments, "Manhunt" and "Red Dead Redemption". In 2014, he and Rockstar co-founders Sam and Dean Houser were recognized and inducted into the Academy of Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame.

Now that Benzies is out of the picture, Rockstar North is going to be helmed by Aaron Garbut and Rob Nelson who are long-time Rockstar mainstays and stood as art directors in multiple studio releases.

Still, despite the changes shaking up the studio recently, the show must go on for "Grand Theft Auto 5". According to a report from Game Spot, one of the game's actors went on social media and dropped a hint of a DLC coming in the future.

Shawn Fonteno, the motion-capture and voice actor for hero Franklin in "Grand Theft Auto 5", posted an image of himself in a motion-capture suit on Instagram. With a large poster of the game hanging behind him, Fonteno spurred buzz about upcoming content in the game that's been one of Rockstar Games' most successful projects to date.

According to a report from Forbes, "Grand Theft Auto 5" has actually sold 54 million copies across all platforms making it the fourth best-selling game of all time behind "Minecraft".
