Luis Suarez failed to make it into FIFA's World XI team but FC Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi believes the Uruguay international is the best striker in the world today.

Messi, who won his fifth Ballon d'Or award earlier this week, said that he has played alongside high-quality strikers in his professional career but he concluded that Suarez is the most dangerous among them all.

"It is difficult to compare him to all the ones I have played alongside," Messi told FIFA. "There have been so many. What I can say is that he is the best out-and-out forward there is in the game today."

Suarez has enjoyed success at Camp Nou since moving from Liverpool via a lucrative transfer deal in the summer of 2014. The Uruguayan superstar struggled to adjust during his first few months in Spain after he was handed suspension for biting Giorgio Chiellini of Italy during the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

But when he finally adjusted to his new team, the 28-year-old made FC Barcelona a more dangerous squad with the formidable frontline of Messi, Suarez and Brazilian striker Neymar.

Suarez helped Barca complete a rare treble last season. This season, he has already tallied 15 goals and five assists in 17 Spanish La Liga matches. Messi added that Suarez has also been a great teammate on and off the pitch.

"He has so much to offer the team and it is a pleasure to play alongside him," Messi said of Suarez. "We also have a very good relationship off the pitch and I am very happy to be sharing everything with him."

The Argentine superstar also added that he will not be surprised if Suarez will eventually join them as Ballon d'Or finalists in the future. While they are sharing the spotlight in Barcelona, Messi reiterated that the "MSN" trio has a solid rapport, which he thinks is very important for their club in the long run.

"I think MSN's success is all down to the chemistry between the three of us, both on and off the pitch and the type of people that we are too," Messi continued. "We all want the best for the team, for the squad. That is more important than anything else."

FC Barcelona will see action against Espanyol on Wednesday in the second leg of their Copa del Rey tie. Messi and Neymar will have bigger responsibilities in the last-16 match after Suarez was handed a two-game ban for triggering a scuffle in last week's 4-1 win over Espanyol, BBC reported.
