A video highlighting one hockey player's generosity has gone viral and received a lot of admiration from viewers that have seen the clip.

Jordin Tootoo, who plays for the Detroit Red Wings but cut from the postseason roster, was sent to play for Detroit's AHL affiliate team, the Grand Rapids Griffins, in the middle of the season, according to the Toronto Sun.

The video shows Tootoo unselfishly giving away a special present to a young fan hanging out outside of the players' tunnel.

As Tootoo was heading into the locker room from off the ice during a game last week, he encountered a joyous little boy who was happy to see the hockey player up close and personal.

"Tootoo!" the boy shouted with his hand reaching out toward the 31-year-old as he approached.

Tootoo stopped to give the boy a fist bump and a "what's up, buddy" prior to handing the star-struck boy his in-game hockey stick.

"It's all yours," Tootoo told him, which was followed by exuberant approval and delight from the boy and his chaperone.

The boy continues to boast a series of giggles in elation to receiving his once-in-a-lifetime gift.

The Grand Rapids Press wrote: "Jordin Tootoo of the Grand Rapids Griffins has a reputation as a tough hockey player, but he also knows how to make his young fans happy."

According to the Sun, the Griffins were last year's Calder Cup champion for the AHL and will defend their title against the Abbottsford Heat in the first round of playoffs beginning Friday.

The Churchill, Manitoba native from Canada, currently has six goals and 12 assists in 51 games for the Griffins this season after scoring one point and getting one assist in 11 games for the Red Wings.
