The gaming community is about to get very lucky for Valentine's Day. The month of February is shaping up to be a great one for players waiting for a bunch of free games, and the biggest brands have set the tone with their respective announcements of free games for PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

According to the official blog of PlayStation, Sony is offering a number of great games for free for PlayStation Plus subscribers on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. At the heart of the month's deals is "Helldivers: Democracy Strikes Back," which is free on all consoles mentioned.

"Set in a satirical and dystopian future, Helldivers offers chaotic combat against three invading enemy species," the official description read. "This top-down shooter focuses heavily on teamwork, as squads battle to become Heroes of the Federation. So grab your friends and take on the invaders -- just be sure to watch out for friendly fire!"

For PlayStation 4, the varied gameplay of "Nom Nom Galaxy" is also available for free next month. Meanwhile, "Grid Autosport" and "Persona 4 Arena Ultimax" are free for PlayStation 3, while "Lemmings Touch" and "Nova-111" are granted to players on PlayStation Vita.

Currently, the January free games are still available: "Grim Fandango Remastered" and "Hardware: Rivals," according to a report from Game Spot. Players still have a little time to grab the available titles before they are taken down by the team to make way for the new deals.

Of course, their console rivals won't let their players get the short end of the stick. Microsoft is also coming out with a selection of great titles for free, as announced on the official Major Nelson blog. The Xbox Live Gold members will be getting a few freebies through the Games With Gold program.

Xbox One and Xbox 360 games are available, with the titles for the latter also available in the current generation console through the backwards compatibility feature.

The Xbox One players will be able to snag "Hand of Fate" for free in the entire month of February, while "Styx: Master of Shadows" will be downloadable for free from Feb. 16 to March 15. The Xbox 360 free deals are the "Sacred Citadel" from Feb. 1 to Feb. 15 and "Gears of War 2" from Feb. 16 to Feb. 29.

Right now, the Xbox team is still offering the January free games to their subscribers, according to a separate report from Game Spot. "Killer Instinct: Season One Ultra Edition" for Xbox One and "Deus Ex: Human Revolution" for Xbox 360 is available until the end of the month.
