Defeating Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be difficult, and Marcos Maidana's world-renowned trainer Robert Garcia knows that for a fact. Nevertheless, he is confident that his fighter Marcos Maidana is up to the challenge in their May 3 bout in MGM Grand, Las Vegas.

In his interview with BoxingScene on Tuesday, Garcia suggested that Maidana has a 'good chance' of giving Mayweather Jr. the first defeat in his career and in his untarnished record.

Of course, as with any other sporting event, anything can happen on fight night itself. Garcia further pointed out that Maidana had a good chance of contesting the fight until the final bell rings in the 12th round. As a fighter himself, his experience tells him that Maidana can and will go for the kill, adding that scorecards wouldn't matter if Maidana lands good punches and connects his blows, hurting his opponent and giving him the chance to finish the bout in a later round.

The technique which Garcia and Maidana will employ is to put a lot of pressure on Mayweather's shoulder, unlike what the champion's previous opponent did. Most of the previous challengers also claimed that they would be aggressive, but ending up being intimidated. Garcia is confident that the story with Maidana on May 3 will be different, going for an all-out attack no matter how defensive Mayweather will get.

Other analysts' views hint that Maidana has a small chance to drop Mayweather. But Garcia does not let his fighter's confidence get affected by this, especially if Mayweather underestimates Maidana's knock-out skills. He should not be too complacent, experts warn.

Undercard bout will be Amir Khan going up against Puerto Rican boxer Luis Collazo. Khan is set to make his debut in the welterweight division prior to the main showdown of the night.
