A former mammogram technician pled guilty to falisifying 1,300 mammogram reports to avoid the paperwork is facing six months in jail, 10 years probation and a $12,500 fine.

Rachael Rapraeger pled guilty to 10 misdemeanors and one felony. Rapraeger told police that she no longer cared about her job and had fallen behind on the paperwork.

To avoid the paperwork, Rapraeger used the computers at Perry Hospital in Perry, Ga. to pretend to be doctors. She gave patients passing reports when some of them may have had lumps or early stages of breast cancer.

Rapraeger's reports gave patients false hope that they were clear and free from cancer. It wasn't until one patient who received a green light from Perry Hospital visited another hospital months later. That patient had breast cancer.

That patient was given a false report by Rapraeger who pretended to be a doctor at the hospital. The doctor she pretended to be wasn't working that day.

Rapraeger knew she was not doing the right thing but told police she didn't think of the consequences.

One patient, Sara Bailey, had been given a false report from Rapraeger. Bailey too had breast cancer that went undetected until it progressed and got worse. Bailey had to have her breast removed because of this.

Bailey feels Rapraeger got off too easy with her sentencing and is angry about the false results in her mammogram.

"I'm not hurting and I don't think I have cancer, but I'm not a woman anymore," the 80-year-old said, her eyes welling with tears and her voice catching as she talked about the loss of her breast.

In response to the ruling, Houston Healthcare CEO Cary Martin released a statement saying he is "pleased this component of Ms. Rapraeger's unfortunate action is concluded."

Even though Rapraeger will only serve up to six months in jail, she won't be allowed to work in the healthcare industry for at least 10 years.
